Women Empowering Women
Violence in our society, especially gender-based violence, is not simply the fault of those who committed the crime. The blame lies, not only with the perpetrators but with those who continue to defend, excuse and enable them.
It cannot be neglected that earning said income is often much easier for some than it is for others. This ability to acquire a job or get a certain level of income can be based on: religion, sexuality or, most notably, gender.
The idea of love overcoming all runs rampant in our society, providing us with a hope that at the end of the day, we’ll find our “true love” who will accept us despite our differences. While this may be true for some people, it would be remiss to completely ignore the majority of society to who this idea does not apply to for a multitude of reasons.
It seems that for as long as we’ve been alive there have been clearly defined rules for how the sexes are meant to act.
However, what do we do when the person we’ve trusted with our entire being betrays us? There are many ways in which this betrayal can occur; lying about finances, not sticking by each other during hard times etc. But the most notable of all kinds of betrayal, that encompasses all of these ideas is infidelity.
